Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, Canterbury Cathedral, 26 October 2013

Come to Canterbury Cathedral to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Benjamin Britten. Canterbury Festival 2013 will include Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem and true to his ambition for the first ever performance (thwarted by Soviet Union visa control), we bring together a Russian soprano, a British tenor and a German bass. The original performance of Britten’s War Requiem did not include this powerful reconciliatory union but the original recording did.
