Concert information
We are delighted to welcome back the internationally-renowned English Chamber Orchestra (ECO) – the world’s most recorded orchestra, for this concert of much-loved works. The historic performance by Ernest Lough of ‘O for the Wings of a Dove’ became the world’s first recording to sell a million copies. Fauré’s Requiem has for long been admired for its understated depth, lyrical warmth and intensity – less obviously dramatic than Verdi and Brahms, but of an equal stature, and a favourite for choir singers. Schubert’s enchanting Mass in G reveals the rich vein of lyricism and passion which was to follow throughout his short but prolific life. This is a concert of delight and also includes Felix Mendelssohn Hear my Prayer (O for the Wings of a Dove), Richard Wagner Siegfried Idyll and Franz Schubert Mass in G.
