Concert information
We welcome back the internationally-renowned English Chamber Orchestra for this concert of much-loved works. Fauré’s Requiem has long been admired for its understated depth, lyrical warmth and intensity – less overtly dramatic than Verdi and Brahms, but of equal stature, and a favourite for choir singers. Schubert’s enchanting Mass in G reveals the rich vein of lyricism and passion which was to follow throughout his short but prolific life. The concert will include Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, a work of sumptuous Wagnerian luxury, written as a birthday present to his second wife Cosima following the birth of their son Siegfried.
