Royal Philharmonic Orchestra coming to Canterbury 18th June 2016

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will be joining Canterbury Choral Society and the CCS Youth Choir to perform Verdi’s Requiem in Canterbury Cathedral on 18th June 2016. This year, 2016, marks the 70th anniversary of the RPO. The RPO’s platinum year started with a sixteen-concert tour in the USA in January. CCS and CCS Youth Choir are very excited to be joined by the English Chamber Orchestra (ECO) to perform Vivaldi Gloria and Haydn Nelson Mass on Saturday 23 January 2016. The ECO, who’s Patron is HRH The Prince of Wales, is the most recorded chamber orchestra in the world. The ECO has been chosen to record many film soundtracks, including Dario Marianelli’s prizewinning scores for Atonement and Pride and Prejudice, as well as several James Bond sound tracks. Mezzo-soprano Esther Brazil made her BBC Proms Debut in August this year in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. She will be joining Canterbury Choral Society (CCS) later this month in their Canterbury Festival concert of Bach Mass in B Minor. The performance also features the London Handel Orchestra and eminent soloists David Allsopp, Robin Bailey, and David Ireland. Come and join us for an enriching evening of carols on Saturday 13 December 2014 in the magnificent setting of Canterbury Cathedral. Sing a selection of the finest carols with Canterbury Choral Society and Canterbury Choral Youth Choir. The choir will also be performing a few numbers, including the beautiful Blazhen Muzh from the Rachmaninoff Vespers.
