The Philharmonia Orchestra, with conductor Jakub Hrůša and cellist Truls Mørk, bring a program of three great works from the Czech Republic to The Marlowe Theatre Canterbury on 16 May:


  • Smetana Overture, The Bartered Bride

  • Dvořák Cello Concerto

  • Dvořák Symphony No. 8 in G

Jakub Hrůša was born in the Czech Republic and is described by Gramophone as “on the verge of greatness”. Jakub Hrůša is Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Prague Philharmonia and Principal Guest Conductor of Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
He is a regular guest with many of Europe’s leading orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Truls Mørk (pictured) is large in the international concert scene. He was born in Bergen, Norway, the son of two professional musicians.
